HC Deb 04 May 1967 vol 746 c716
17. Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Minister of Overseas Development how much of the aid allocated to St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla for the financial year 1967–68 will be spent in the islands of Nevis and Anguilla.

Mr. Oram

British aid is made available to the State of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla as a whole. It benefits all parts of the State and it is not possible to quantify the proportions received by each part.

Dame Joan Vickers

Can the Minister say how much money is being allocated; and, if so, what projects does he expect it will be used on? Is he sure that the money is being fairly distributed between these three islands?

Mr. Oram

The question of distribution, as my Answer indicated, is a matter for the Government of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla. We cannot influence that. It is not possible to separate out the amounts allocated to each island. I am sure that the Premier of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla is fully aware of the development needs of all parts of the three islands.
