HC Deb 02 May 1967 vol 746 cc302-3
Q2. Mr. Blaker

asked the Prime Minister whether he is satisfied with the coordination between the President of the Board of Trade and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs with regard to the observance of International Tourist Year; and if he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Blaker

Since the Government supported the United Nations proposal to designate 1967 as International Tourist Year, would it not now be appropriate if they were to amend the Selective Employment Tax and the investment grant arrangements so as to remove the handicaps which they impose on the British tourist industry?

The Prime Minister

I am not aware of any United Nations Resolution on the Selective Employment Tax, but the hon. Gentleman's supplementary question does raise pretty wide financial issues, and if he is successful in catching your eye, Mr. Speaker, in the later debate on the Finance Bill, he may be able to say a word about them then.
