HC Deb 21 March 1967 vol 743 c1429
14. Mr. Marten

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs which Commonwealth countries have made representations to him about the proposed withdrawal of United Kingdom forces from Aden.

Mr. George Thomas

None, Sir.

Mr. Marten

That may be for the Commonwealth Secretary, but I understand that representations have been made to the Government. Will the hon. Gentleman give the House an assurance that when negotiations about Aden are taking place full weight is given to the views of the Commonwealth countries which are affected by our withdrawal from Aden?

Mr. Thomas

The hon. Gentleman seems to be under a misunderstanding. I said that no Commonwealth country had made representations to us about the proposed withdrawal of United Kingdom Forces from Aden. I am sure the hon. Gentleman will agree that I ought to know the answer on this, and that is the answer.
