HC Deb 14 March 1967 vol 743 c199
35. Mr. Derek Page

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what advice he has received from the Eastern Regional Economic Planning Council regarding the advisability of instituting a feasibility study for a Wash Barrage.

Mr. MacColl

The East Anglia Planning Council has recommended that a start should be made on a feasibility study for the Wash Barrage.

Mr. Page

Is my hon. Friend aware that recent thinking on this subject involves consideration of factors much wider than pure water conservation, such as new port facilities and the drainage of vast areas? Will he ensure that these new considerations are properly considered by his Ministry in setting up any feasibility study?

Mr. MacColl

We should want to take everything into account before reaching a decision.
