I beg to move, That this House urges Her Majesty's Government to introduce an energy policy which rejects adherence to short-term market forces and protects national investment in the coalmining industry and other indigenous fuel potentials; and would welcome an overall and long-term policy which will eventually reduce the level of dependence on imported fuel, thus assisting the United Kingdom's balance of payments position. Had there been allowed sufficient time to speak to this Motion more fully, I would have wanted to expand it and gone far and wide on the question of indigenous resources.
