asked the Minister of Overseas Development what help he has given to India in the formation and organisation of their five-year economic plan.

Mr. Bottomley

None, Sir. My hon. Friend will appreciate that the preparation of India's five-year plans is entirely the responsibility of the Indian Government.

Mr. Pavitt

But is my right hon. Friend aware that if Britain enters the Common Market that will affect India's five-year plan to the extent of 40 per cent. of its overseas trade? Will he therefore now seek immediate negotiations to make sure that there will be no detriment to India?

Mr. Bottomley

The Commonwealth countries concerned are aware of the negotiations with the Common Market and are kept informed.
