HC Deb 20 July 1967 vol 750 cc2446-7
5. Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give authorisation for repairs and reinstatement to commence at 39 Brynglas Road, Newport, which suffered damage as a result of the M4 roadworks.

Mr. Ifor Davies

I understand that the owners are prepared to accept compensation and to make their own arrangements for carrying out the work.

Mr. Hughes

I thank my hon. Friend for that reply, but, as there is nearly £700 worth of damage to this one property alone, does he not feel that the matter should now receive the urgent treatment that it deserves, having in mind the longstanding suffering in this area due to these road developments?

Mr. Davies

I assure my hon. Friend that the legal negotiations in these matters are very complex, as he is aware, but negotiations for compensation for damage caused to property by the road works are already well advanced.
