HC Deb 20 July 1967 vol 750 cc2455-6
16. Mr. Probert

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when he expects plans for the proposed road by-passes at Abercynon and Aberdare; and when the works will commence.

Mr. Ifor Davies

This is a matter initially for the local highway authorities. My right hon. Friend will be ready to consider their schemes as soon as they are able to put firm proposals to him.

Mr. Probert

Although I appreciate that, will my right hon. Friend use his persuasive powers with the local authorities concerned to speed up these plans as the situation in both cases is now well-nigh intolerable?

Mr. Davies

Yes, Sir. This is essentially a matter for the local authorities, but my right hon. Friend has already announced his willingness to consider firm plans as soon as they are ready and the Welsh Office is ready to give all the help and advice it can.
