asked the Postmaster-General on what date it is proposed to start the new British Broadcasting Corporation programme, Radio 247.

As I told the House on 29th June, the B.B.C.'s new music programme will start on 30th September.

Mr. Channon

Does not this prove what hon. Members on this side have been saying for a long time? Would it not be much better to accelerate the start of this programme in order that, when the pirates do go out of business, if they do, there will be a decent alternative to replace them?

Mr. Short

It proves how enterprising the Government have been in doing something about it.
