§ Mrs. Lena JegerWith your permission, Mr. Speaker, and that of the House, I beg leave to present a petition which represents the views of more than 900 constituents, students of University College, London, who are deeply concerned about the continuation of the bombing of North Vietnam and of the failure of Her Majesty's Government to dissociate themselves from this policy.
I beg you to instruct the Clerk of the House to read the petition to the House.

The humble Petition of students and academic staff of University College London sheweth; That the war in Vietnam is politically and morally untenable and represents a very grave threat to the peace of Asia and the whole world;Wherefore your Petitioners pray that your honourable House shall require Her Majesty's Government to support the peace programme of U Thant, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, which is
- (1) the cessation of the bombing of North Vietnam;
- (2) the scaling down of all military activities by all sides in South Vietnam;
- (3) a willingness to enter into discussions with those who are actually fighting.
And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
