HC Deb 05 July 1967 vol 749 c1814
29. Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Defence for what purposes substantial sums are being spent on development of the Royal Air Force station at Acklington, Northumberland.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

R.A.F. Acklington, which is situated in one of the least congested areas of U.K. air space, has a long-term rôle as a basic flying training school and we are replacing wartime buildings with permanent buildings.
