HC Deb 17 January 1967 vol 739 c13
17. Sir J. Eden

asked the Minister of Power when he last held a review with the Chairman of the Central Electricity Generating Board to discuss the Board's plans for development and capital expenditure for the next five years ahead, according to the procedure described in paragraph 10 of Command Paper No. 2798, Fuel Policy.

Mr. Marsh

I am currently discussing with the Chairman the Board's programme of development and capital expenditure for the years up to 1971–72.

Sir J. Eden

Surely in view of the total collapse of the National Plan and because of the measures taken by the Government deliberately to slow down the rate of economic growth in this country, should not this review have taken place very much earlier?

Mr. Marsh

No, I think the review has taken place as quickly as it could and as would be sensible with matters of this size. Discussions on the Board's programme for the next five years will probably be concluded very shortly.
