HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 cc1478-9
Q10. Mr. Hooson

asked the Prime Minister what further executive responsibility it is proposed to give the Secretary of State for Wales in the near future over Welsh matters.

Mr. George Brown

I have been asked to reply.

I would refer the hon. and learned Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 11th December to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Cardigan (Mr. Elystan Morgan).—[Vol. 756, c. 50.]

Mr. Hooson

Would the right hon. Gentleman convey to the Prime Minister the great disappointment felt in Wales that, although the Secretary of State for Scotland has a great deal of executive responsibility, his counterpart in Wales has very little executive responsibility?

Mr. Brown

I will certainly convey that view, but our own view is that the system is working very well.
