asked the Secretary of State for Defence what progress is being made in the disposal of surplus Territorial Army drill halls.

Mr. Boyden

About 750 Territorial Army Centres are due for disposal as a result of the recent reorganisation of the Territorial Army. About 50 have been disposed of and the disposal of a further 519 has been authorised.

Mr. Judd

Will my hon. Friend assure the House that priority will be given to considering the possibility of using those premises for social and youth work in cities throughout the country?

Mr. Boyden

That is exactly what is happening, though we should like to see the process speeded up.
