asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when the report of the Committee on University Libraries under the chairmanship of Dr. Thomas Parry will be published.

I understand that the University Grants Committee expect to publish this report next month.

Mr. Fowler

Would my hon. Friend confirm that there is no truth in the current suggestion that this Report has been kept in the Department awaiting publication since January?

Mr. Roberts

I can confirm that the normal procedures have been applied to the Report by the University Grants Committee, which commissioned it. As I have said, we all look forward to its publication next month. It will, of course, be necessary for the U.G.C. to bring the Report to the notice of universities and thereafter to formulate its attitude to it.
