HC Deb 20 April 1967 vol 745 c800
Q4. Mr. Cordle

asked the Prime Minister what plans he has for reducing the number of Ministers concerned with housing and land.

The Prime Minister

None at present, Sir.

Mr. Cordle

Is it not ludicrous that while we have twice as many Ministers to deal with the same subject as the last Conservative Government had, we have had housing stagnation for the last two-and-a-half years?

The Prime Minister

On the contrary, quite apart from the significant increase in local authority building, which was long overdue, and which is being reflected both in starts and in completions, the hon. Gentleman and all hon. Members will be aware from what is going on in housing activity that there is now a very remarkable boom in starts in the private sector of housing.
