§ 30. Mr. Ronald Atkinsasked the Minister of Transport what further progress has been made in organising open terminals for freightliner trains.
§ Mrs. CastleI am glad to say that all the freightliner terminals so far operating are handling containers brought in by private hauliers.
§ Mr. AtkinsI congratulate my right hon. Friend. Does she intend to open new terminals wherever there is sufficient demand for them and will she particularly bear in mind the need for container berths in the docks?
§ Mrs. CastleYes, Sir. Ten more terminals are to be opened by the end of this year. The Railways Board is already drawing up proposals for stage two of the freightliner terminal development and, in doing this, we have the needs of the docks very much in mind.
