I beg to move Amendment No. 43, in page 14, line 31, at the end to insert: (2) The power to dispose of vehicles conferred on a council by subsection (1) of this section includes power to provide plant and apparatus for the purpose of disposing of vehicles. The Amendment would give local authorities the power to provide plant and apparatus for the purpose of disposing of vehicles. Probably not many authorities would avail themselves of the power—most of them might find it more convenient and cheaper to make arrangements with local car dismantlers and scrap merchants—but in certain areas it might be best for authorities to provide the apparatus themselves.

Somewhat similar powers are given in Clause 14(3), in relation to refuse deposited at the places provided for the purpose, and in Clause 19(3) in relation to abandoned things other than vehicles removed by local authorities.
