HC Deb 13 April 1967 vol 744 c1353
22. Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will state more precisely when he anticipates receiving the Essex Education Authority's plan for the reorganisation of Brentwood's secondary schools.

The Minister of State, Department of Education and Science (Mrs. Shirley Williams)

I cannot be more precise. The proposals are, as previously stated, under active consideration by the Essex Education Authority and my right hon. Friend hopes to receive them later this year.

Mr. Moonman

In thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I suggest that she makes herself aware that the statement will be made available next week? Will she also consider that the whole experiment of encouraging local authorities to produce ideas in this way is a very doubtful one?

Mrs. Williams

I thank my hon. Friend for that information. We will, of course, deal with the plan as quickly as possible when it arrives.
