HC Deb 13 April 1967 vol 744 c1347
9. Mr. Probert

asked the Secretary of State for Wales to what extent his Economic Council and Planning Board regard the area adjacent to the Heads of the Valleys road as an area of economic growth.

Mrs. White

This area is regarded as having good prospects for economic growth.

Mr. Probert

Is my hon. Friend aware that, strategically, the whole of this area is admirably suited to serve the employment needs of Monmouthshire and the valleys of north Glamorganshire and could provide an economic link between the industrial West and the Midlands?

Mrs. White

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Alec Jones

Will my hon. Friend agree that a survey should be conducted in the adjacent area so that the Rhondda district may benefit from the Heads of the Valleys constructions?

Mrs. White

That is another question but I am sure that we shall sympathetically consider it.
