§ 2. Mr. Gibson-Wattasked the Secretary of State for Wales what machinery of administration exists between his Department and the Board of Trade concerning the improvement of air services in Wales.
§ The Minister of State, Welsh Office, (Mrs. Eirene White)There are effective contacts, at several levels, together with a common interest in the activities of the Welsh Advisory Committee on Civil Aviation. These contacts have been strengthened by the appointment to the Welsh Planning Board in Cardiff of one of the Civil Aviation Controllers of the Board of Trade.
§ Mr. Gibson-WattThe hon. Lady, quite rightly, drew attention the other day, to the lack of air services within the Principality. May I tell her that we on this side of the House would support any effort that she or her right hon. Friend makes in order to improve air services, both for those who are responsible for administration and for various businesses throughout Wales?
§ Mrs. WhiteWe are delighted to have the support of the hon. Gentleman and his hon. Friend's on this matter. I would remind him that, subject to licensing requirements, the development of air services is primarily a matter for the commercial judgment of the airline operators.
