§ Q4. Mr. Winnickasked the Prime Minister whether he is satisfied with the co-ordination between Government Departments in dealing with Aden; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterYes, Sir.
§ Mr. WinnickIs my right hon. Friend aware that many people feel that two essential conditions are necessary in order to get peace in Aden—first, that we should be willing to allow Aden to leave the Federation and, secondly, that there should be direct British negotiations with the leaders of F.L.O.S.Y.? Has my right hon. Friend any comments to make on the visit that my hon. Friend the Member for Barking (Mr. Driberg) has made to El Asnag?
§ The Prime MinisterThe Question relates to co-ordination between Government Departments in dealing with Aden. My right hon. Friend made a statement earlier this week and there was an emergency debate. I do not think that it would be right for me to add to the discussion in that debate or to comment on suggestions made from any part of the House, especially since the United Nations Mission is now about to visit London and my noble Friend the Minister without Portfolio has arrived in Aden. We had better leave things where they are at the moment.
