HC Deb 12 April 1967 vol 744 cc1194-5
35. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if, when Burton-wood comes into use again as a United States Air Force Base, United States bombing aircraft using it will carry hydrogen bombs on board at any time.

Mr. Healey

Burtonwood is not coming into use again as a United States Air Force base. It is a storage depôt for the United States Army.

Mr. Allaun

Is my right hon. Friend aware that that reply will receive a warm welcome in Lancashire, which is a highly populated area and wants nothing to do with H-bombs anywhere near it?

Mr. Healey

If my hon. Friend keeps more closely in touch with me, I may be able to tell him a great deal more to our mutual advantage.
