asked the Minister of Labour if he will give the number of reported infringements of the Contracts of Employment Act by betting shop proprietors since the Act came into operation.

None specifically relating to a betting shop proprietor has been reported to the Ministry.

Mr. Dickens

In view of the lack of trade union organisation in this somewhat candy-floss industry, will my hon. Friend take steps to improve the Ministry's supervision of the operation of the Act?

Mr. Hattersley

I will certainly do all I can. If my hon. Friend has evidence of breaches of the Act in this sphere, I should be most grateful if he would give it to my Ministry so that we can take specific and immediate action.
