13. Mr. Osborn

asked the Minister of Power what information he has received about the progress of exploration and drilling for oil in the North Sea.

Mr. Freeson

Oil has not yet been found in commercial quantities.

Mr. Osborn

In view of the optimism in the national daily and Sunday Press last month, would the hon. Gentleman make certain that reporting is correct and that his Ministry vets all claims as they come forward?

Mr. Freeson

On the latter point, we are in constant receipt of factual information. However, we cannot be responsible for what the Press publishes in this matter.
