§ 10. Mr. Geoffrey Lloydasked the Minister of Health whether he will instruct registrars of births to ascertain if the child has been put on a doctor's list, and if it has not, to supply relevant information to enable this to be done.
§ Mr. LoughlinWhen a birth is registered, the registrar gives the parent a form of application for the child to be put on a doctor's list, with the child's name, date of birth and National Health Service number ready filled in.
§ Mr. LloydWould the Minister take note of a resolution passed by the National Executive of the Health Executive Councils urging the Minister to give greater publicity to the need for parents to take this action?
§ Mr. LoughlinI do not think there is much more we can do about this. If we supply the appropriate preliminary medical card to the registrar and if the registrar fills in all the details and tells the parent that it is the card with which the child should be registered, there is not much more we can do about it.
