asked the Minister c Public Building and Works how man official reports were produced by committees of his Department which include representatives of the building and construction industries in each of the years 1960 to 1966, inclusive; what was the subject matter of these reports; what was the cost of each; and what subsequent Government action has been taken in each case to implement their recommendation

Nine. As the details re-quested are rather lengthy, I will, wit permission, circulate them in the OFFICIAL REPORT. Figures of cost are not available.

Would the Minister answer the Question, for I do not see that he has done so? What action has he taken in these cases?

Following are the details:

Organisation and Practices for Build-ing and Civil Engineering. 1964 Differences in practice between Scotland and England and Wales and recommendations for greater efficiency. Action in hand on recommendations about training, selective tendering, revision of contract conditions and adoption of standard method of measurement. Efforts are continuing to improve contractual practices (particularly methods of payment) and to increase production of building materials in Scotland.
Assessment of New Building Products. 1965 Possible application in this country of French Agrément system of assessing and certifying building innovations. An independent body, the Agrément Board has been set up and is now functioning.
