HC Deb 03 November 1966 vol 735 cc632-3
8. Mr. Probert

asked the Secretary of State for Wales to what extent the transport problems of towns are being considered in the studies now taking place by the Welsh Office in connection with the future road programme for Wales.

Mr. Ifor Davies

These problems will be fully taken into account in the future road programme.

Mr. Probert

Is my hon. Friend aware that many smaller industrial firms are facing what may be called a form of transport thrombosis? Will he ask the appropriate local authorities to put proposals to alleviate the present situation until major proposals such as bypasses can be put forward and considered?

Mr. Davies

Local authorities were asked last year to indicate the value of schemes on which forward planning and preparation could start in the near future. Their cost estimates are now being considered.
