§ 5. Mr. Patrick Jenkinasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what administrative arrangements he is making for integrating the functions and staff of the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources with those of his own Department.
§ Mr. CrossmanAs my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister told the House last week, the integration of the staff of the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources with that of my Department is already far advanced.
§ Mr. JenkinHow many staff will this amalgamation save?
§ Mr. CrossmanWe are integrating the existing staff. The reorganisation comes at a later stage. I was asked about the integration.
§ Mr. RipponWill the right hon. Gentleman consider issuing a White Paper on this matter, as there is considerable concern about the way in which the functions of his Department are being altered, when he is already overloaded?
§ Mr. CrossmanI shall certainly consider it, but I should have thought that it would be more to the convenience of hon. Members, if they are keen to know, if I wrote and told them the details. These are not major reorganisations, and I think that I can deal with this best by letter.
§ Mr. BlenkinsopWill my right hon. Friend give an assurance that there will be a Minister with special responsibilities for countryside problems?
§ Mr. CrossmanThere is a Minister with responsibility for this. It is my right hon. Friend the Minister of Land and Natural Resources.
