HC Deb 16 May 1966 vol 728 cc907-8
36. Mr. Holland

asked the Minister of Labour what action his Department is taking to promote the implementation of the advice given by the Central Training Council in September 1965 on the subject of training in industrial safety.

Mr. Gunter

The Central Training Council's Memorandum No. 2 has been brought to the attention of all industrial training boards, and copies have been widely distributed in industry.

Mr. Holland

Is not the right hon. Gentleman aware of the shape of the filing basket into which, very often, paper work finds its way in busy organisations? Can he tell us of positive steps taken in Government training and retraining centres and in the public sector, where I am sure he has a great deal of influence?

Mr. Gunter

The boards are following the advice of the document about which the hon. Gentleman has spoken. Five of the boards have implemented it, and the others, as they get under way, will be doing exactly what the five have done.

Mr. Holland

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the Reply, I beg to give notice that I will seek to raise the matter on the Adjournment.
