HC Deb 10 May 1966 vol 728 c201
23. Mr. Weatherill

asked the Minister of Technology what vacancies at present exist for staff at the National Computing Centre at Manchester.

Mr. Dell

There are currently 18 vacancies for consultancy, managerial and office staff.

Mr. Weatherill

What is the total establishment at the Centre? What is the Joint Parliamentary Secretary doing about the filling of vacancies? Does the difficulty arise because of the question of salaries? If not, what other factors are involved?

Mr. Dell

The total establishment will probably be 56, but this is a matter which will have to be discussed with the Advisory Council when it is set up. There have been advertisements for the senior staff and a satisfactory number of responses have been received.
