HC Deb 10 May 1966 vol 728 cc189-90
5. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Technology what he is doing to encourage the production of copper substitutes.

Mr. Dell

The copper shortage and the accompanying high prices are giving a great stimulus to the use of alternative materials and to greater economy in the use of copper. The research associations and the main user industries have done a great deal of work which has made such changes practical possibilities. My right hon. Friend is not aware that such substitution and economy are being hindered by lack of productive facilities.
