HC Deb 05 May 1966 vol 727 c1861
Q3. Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Prime Minister when he will visit Japan.

The Prime Minister

I have as yet no firm plans for such a visit.

Mr. Ridsdale

In any case, will the Prime Minister consider starting a conference similar to that which we have with the Germans at Konigswinter?

The Prime Minister

There have been no contacts on the question of my visit. I have seen Press stories about it, but there has not been any decision. My right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary recently visited Japan. I welcome the improvement which has taken place and, of course, if there were support for a Konigswinter type conference for private individuals—because the Konigswinter conference is a private one—I am sure that all of us would welcome such a development.
