HC Deb 05 May 1966 vol 727 c1866
Q8. Mr. Dean

asked the Prime Minister when he will implement the report on doctors' and dentists' pay; and if he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement I made to the House yesterday.

Mr. Dean

Is the Prime Minister now able to answer a question which my right hon. Friend the Leader of the Opposition put yesterday but which he was unable to answer then? As the percentage of the national wealth envisaged in the National Plan going to the health services is to decline from 4 per cent. to 3.9 per cent., can he give a clear assurance that the additional cost of meeting the welcome award to doctors and dentists will be provided over and above the present resources?

The Prime Minister

There is no question on the implementation of these recommendations that there will be a corresponding cut in other parts of the Health Service, which, I think, was the point the hon. Gentleman's right hon. Friend was putting yesterday.
