HC Deb 02 May 1966 vol 727 cc1224-5
29. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Labour if he will make a statement on his efforts to avert a strike by the, National Union of Seamen.

The Minister of Labour (Mr. R. J. Gunter)

I have seen representatives of the union and of the shipowners and I am keeping in close touch with developments. It is, of course, my earnest wish, as I am sure it is that of the Whole House, that a satisfactory solution will be found to this dispute by which strike action will be avoided.
