§ Lords Amendment: In page 3, line 19, leave out "one month" and insert "eight weeks".
§ 10.1 p.m.
§ The Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (Mrs. Judith Hart)I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
§ Mr. Ian MacArthur (Perth and East Perthshire)We are making such rapid progress, that I am almost frightened of losing my cue. I rise to express our appreciation to the hon. Lady for the fact that this Amendment was considered in another place, and has now come to us. It meets to a large extent the worry which 1864 many of us on both sides had about the lack of time for the proper consideration of ordinances, originally provided for in this Clause. We are glad that the hon. Lady has seen her way to move that the House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment.
§ Mrs. HartPerhaps this is the appropriate moment, in this last interval of agreement between the two Front Benches, to express one's appreciation of the way in which both sides of the House have dealt with this Bill. I recognise the hon. Gentleman's concern about this, and I am glad that we have been able to meet it.
§ Question put and agreed to.
