HC Deb 03 March 1966 vol 725 c1465
20. Mr. Goodhart

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what study is being made of the proposal to establish a school for artistic administration.

Miss Jennie Lee

This is an interesting idea which is well worth pursuing. I will consider it further with the Arts Council.

Mr. Goodhart

Is the hon. Lady aware that Mr. Ian Hunter, who is one of the most authoritative artistic directors in the country, recently said that very little had been done for the teaching of artistic administrators and that more would be needed if there is going to be a substantial expansion on the cultural side?

Miss Lee

I am well aware of Mr. Hunter's contribution to the Press and also of his distinguished views on matters of this kind. We are giving this matter consideration.
