HC Deb 28 June 1966 vol 730 c1581
46. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will take steps to encourage the relevant local authorities to tighten up the regulations governing the display of billboards in open fields alongside roads and railways.

Mr. Crossman

The existing regulations give the local authorities wide powers of control which are widely used; but if my hon. Friend would let me have particulars of any cases he is concerned about, I will make inquiries.

Mr. Parker

Has my right hon. Friend noted all along the main line railways the new advertisements which have gone up during the last few months to advertise paints, and so on?

Mr. Crossman

I have not noticed this. I should have thought that this was one of the controls which was competently covered, but if my hon. Friend has hard evidence on this I hope that he will give it to me.
