HC Deb 27 June 1966 vol 730 c1230
40. Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister of Health when preliminary planning of the proposed new hospital at Frimley Park, Camberley, will begin; and what is the earliest date, in the light of the Government's Hospital Building Programme, Command Paper No. 3000, when this hospital will be in use.

Mr. K. Robinson

Preliminary planning of the proposed new hospital at Frimley Park has already begun; the hospital building programme is under continuous review and I cannot forecast the earliest date when this hospital will be in use.

Mr. Onslow

Is the Minister aware that his inability to forecast the earliest possible date will cause great disappointment in my constituency? Since planning has begun, will he agree to receive a deputation of local authority representatives and doctors, who are united in agreeing that his present plans will be quite inadequate?

Mr. Robinson

The reason why I am not prepared to make a guess, and it could only be a guess, at this stage is that some schemes may start and finish earlier than at present anticipated. I repeat that this is a flexible programme and subject to continuous review.
