HC Deb 27 June 1966 vol 730 cc1222-3
37. Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

asked the Minister of Health if he will take steps either to revise the methods of recovery or wholly to remit charges payable under the Road Traffic Act, 1960, on account of hospital or emergency treatment of persons involved in motor accidents.

Mr. K. Robinson

I will bear the right hon. Member's suggestion in mind, but legislation would be required.

38. Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

asked the Minister of Health how much was collected as payment for hospital or emergency treatment under Sections 212 and 213 of the Road Traffic Act, 1960, during the last year; and what he estimates to be the cost of collection of these sums by hospital authorities under Section 214 of the Act.

Mr. K. Robinson

Hospital income under Sections 212 and 213 of the Road Traffic Act, 1960, in the year ended 31st March, 1965, was £578,000, most of which related to Section 212. Up-to-date information about the cost of collections by hospital authorities is not available centrally.
