HC Deb 23 June 1966 vol 730 c877
10. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long it takes the Criminal Records Office of the Metropolitan Police to identify a fingerprint submitted to it for that purpose.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The approximate times are: for the search of a complete set of 10 prints against the main collection of 10 prints, six to 30 minutes, and for the search of a single print against the single print collection 10 minutes to five hours. The time taken to search a single print against the main collection varies too greatly to make any estimate possible.
