HC Deb 28 July 1966 vol 732 c1885
36. Mr. Archer

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many male teachers under retirement age left primary and secondary school teaching in 1965.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts

I regret that this information is not yet available.

Mr. Archer

Does not my hon. Friend agree that the number is likely to be fairly substantial? Is his right hon. Friend in a position to indicate the principal reasons for this?

Mr. Roberts

It would be best to await the full statistics and then to consider exactly what are the reasons for the decline, however great it may be. I do not expect that we shall be in a position to examine this carefully until about March of next year.
