New School, Walton-on-the-Naze

11. Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he estimates will be the completion date for the new secondary school at Waltonon-the-Naze.

Mr. Denis Howell

The Essex Local Education Authority is planning this school on the basis of a completion date in December 1968.

Mr. Ridsdale

Will the Minister assure the House that this will not be affected by the cuts recently announced by the Government?

Mr. Howell

I am not aware that the Government have recently announced any cuts in the school building programme.
