§ 17. Mr. Russell Johnstonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will issue a general direction to the Highlands and Islands Development Board to investigate allegations of improper land use on the Island of Raasay, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Inverness.
§ Mr. WillisNo, Sir. My right hon. Friend has no evidence of improper land use on Raasay. He is, however, asking the Highlands and Islands Development Board to give him its views on the economic situation and the scope for development in the Island.
§ Mr. JohnstonWhile thanking the Minister of State for the general reference to the Highlands and Islands Development Board, I wonder if he could at least give an assurance that his Department will not sell any more crofts or houses or holdings to Dr. Green till he has the results of this survey?
§ Mr. WillisYes, we are very conscious of what is happening here, and, of course, 1708 we will be careful in the future about land use.
