§ 46. Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how soon work can commence near Llechryd, Cardiganshire, to combat the danger of flooding by the River Teifi in that area.
§ Mr. John MackieWe are ready to consider the proposals for approval for grant as soon as we get the details required and I understand that the river authority hopes to give these shortly. I cannot say when it will start this work.
§ Mr. MorganDoes my hon. Friend appreciate that there has been quite some delay in this matter? There were reports to the Government in 1852 and 1873. There is a grave danger that if this work is not carried out expeditiously there will be further flooding, perhaps causing loss of life.
§ Mr. MackieMy right hon. Friend and I cannot be responsible for the reports submitted on the dates referred to by my hon. Friend, but we are advised that there is no great danger of the slate slipping or loss of human life, but we will look into the matter.
