HC Deb 19 July 1966 vol 732 c372
43. Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will now give his decision on the proposed Meldon Dam at Okehampton.

Mr. Crossman

I have decided to allow the North Devon Water Board to carry out this scheme subject to certain modifications. The letter conveying my decision was sent yesterday.

Mr. Mills

While thanking the Minister for this decision, which I am sure will be very welcome in that part of the world, may I ask him whether he will give every help and facility to the North Devon Water Board to get on with the task of supplying water in this area?

Mr. Crossman

Yes. I am aware that the delay in making a decision was unduly long and we will certainly give all the help we can to implement it as fast as possible.

44. Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many representations, and from whom, he has had about planning for the proposed Meldon Dam at Okehampton.

Mr. Crossman

There were 26 objectors to the planning application for the Meldon scheme. I will let the hon. Member have a list of them.
