Resolved,

That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to transfer the Court of Criminal Appeal's jurisdiction to hear appeals in criminal cases to the Court of Appeal, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of—

  1. (a) any increase in the moneys so payable under section 118 of the Supreme Court of Judicature (Consolidation) Act 1925 which is attributable to provisions of the said Act of the present Session relating to the registrar and any assistant registrar or deputy assistant registrar of criminal appeals;
  2. (b) the cost of making records of proceedings at assizes or quarter sessions in respect of which an appeal lies by virtue of the said Act of the present Session to the criminal division of the Court of Appeal;
  3. (c) the cost of making and supplying transcripts of any such records ordered by virtue of that Act to be supplied to the registrar of criminal appeals or the Secretary of State;
  4. (d) the cost of providing, maintaining and installing at courts of assize or quarter sessions any equipment required for the purpose of making any such records or transcripts; and
  5. (e) any sums ordered to be so paid by the Courts-Martial Appeal Court under that Act to persons attending to give evidence on appeals under the Courts-Martial (Appeals) Act 1951 or in proceedings preliminary or incidental to any such appeal.—[Mr. Taverne.]
