51. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in the light of the youth employment service report, he will establish a training centre for youth employment officers in Scotland, in addition to the existing centres at Lamorbey Park, Sidcup, and the Manchester College of Commerce.

Mr. Thornton

Possible ways of expanding facilities for full-time training of new entrant local authority youth employment officers are at present under consideration by the Youth Employment Service Training Board which, I am sure, will have due regard to the needs of Scotland.

Is there any idea when it will reach a conclusion?

Mr. Thornton

I expect it will reach a conclusion within the next few months.
