asked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he will now take steps to regulate the siting of oil fuel storage tanks for greater public safety as recommended by the Building Regulations Advisory Committee in its first Report to Her Majesty's Government.

New statutory powers are required in this as in other fields of building.

Could the hon. Gentleman offer some indication as to when they are likely to see the light of day? I would remind him that I have been pressing this need for some time and it is of great concern to the owners of neighbouring properties.

These are being very actively considered but, in relation to the oil interests, the industry itself has not been quite as smart as it might have been.
