HC Deb 26 January 1966 vol 723 c193
15. Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary for Scotland what consideration he has given to the points in the letter sent to him by the honourable Member for East Aberdeenshire dated 9th December objecting to the proposed closure of Ellon. Hospital by the regional board; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

The points made by the hon. Member and those made by other objectors to the proposed closure of Ellon Hospital are under consideration. No. decision has been taken.

Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that objections to the closing of this hospital are too numerous, as well as too cogent, to be compressed adequately into a Parliamentary Question, but will he please bear in mind particularly that Ellon is confidently expecting to expand greatly in the future, that hospital accommodation in Aberdeen is already overcrowded and that the alternatives suggested for the people of Ellon by the regional board are inadequate?

Mr. Ross

The hon. Gentleman can rest assured that we will take into consideration all the items that he has already brought before us with the petitions and other objections which have been forwarded to us.
